Richard's advocacy for progress is exemplified in Petit Jean Fiber. Petit Jean Fiber initiative is to bring high-speed internet access to rural communities previously underserved in the digital age. This visionary project was born out of a critical need highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic. Richard and fellow board members witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by children who lacked access to traditional schooling. Realizing that something must be done whenever they witnessed children sitting out in church, restaurants and the library’s parking lot to access the internet for their schooling. Their innovative response led to the development of Petit Jean Fiber, ensuring affordable high-speed internet for all members. Richard continues to advocate for the expansion of this vital service to meet the evolving needs of the community.
Solar Grid:
Richard's commitment to sustainable energy solutions is evident in Petit Jean's successful implementation of a solar grid project. Through strategic collaboration with Today's Power Inc., Petit Jean facilitated the installation of an 8-acre solar grid capable of producing one megawatt of power. This initiative allows for the diversification of energy sources. This approach ensures that Petit Jean remains at the forefront of renewable energy adoption, benefiting both the cooperative and its members.
